Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
New things are happening at Cathlamet Public Library, reports librarian Carol Blix. They have ordered many new books and DVDs recently (examples of new titles appear across the bottom of the library website's home screen and catalog page - go to: http://www.cathlamet.lib.wa.us).
They have upgraded their internet to give the public more bandwidth. A new used copier will be coming soon, as will a baby-changing table for the bathroom, and a subscription to Ancestry.com.
The Washington State Poet Laureate, Tod Marshall, will give a poetry reading on January 26. They are working on a plan to have the library open during morning hours one day a week (11 a.m.-2 p.m.), if they can get enough new volunteer workers.
Rates for out-of-town library cards have gone up slightly: a Family card is now $18, an Adult card is now $10, and a Child (under 18) card is now $4.
They also offer four public internet access computers, free wi-fi, Microsoft Imagine Academy self-paced online computer classes, Proquest and other research databases, inexpensive printing, scanning and fax services, as well as all the books, DVDs, ebooks, and audiobooks that come with a library card.
Open hours are currently 2-5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.
