Born in Dahlia, Wa. to James and Julia Kelly of Skamokawa, Elaine went to grade school in Skamokawa and graduated from Wahkiakum High in Cathlamet. She attended business college in Seattle, and after graduating, she moved back to Skamokawa. During this time, she worked at the courthouse in Cathlamet and then at the post office in Skamokawa.
On October 1, 1939 she married Burtell Anderson. Their first son Jim was born in 1940 with second son Jerry coming along in 1947.
They moved to Portland in 1944, then back to Skamokawa in 1947. The boys were raised there until 1958 when she and Burt moved to Vancouver, Wa. She lived there until the time of her death.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Harry Morse Book Keeping Service in Vancouver for over 20 years. Later, she became a volunteer at the SW Washington Hospital for over 25 years. She was very active in the Skamokawa Methodist church and the Methodist church in Vancouver.
As much as she loved going to casinos or clam digging her most favorite times were spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Burtell and son Jerry Anderson.
Survivors include son Jim and his wife Linda of White Salmon, WA, five granddaughters; two grandsons; eight great-grand children and 11 great great-grand children.
Services will be held today, Dec. 29, at the Skamokawa Methodist church.
