Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
December 5 — 5:55 a.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance after accidentally getting locked out of a running vehicle with two small children inside. 6:48 a.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to a fire alarm that was activated in the Rosedale area. The response was called off when it turned out to be a false alarm. 8:17 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 9:12 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and partially blocking SR 4 in the Grays River area. 9:44 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a traffic accident on SR 4 on the east side of KM. 3:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident when a medical alert pendant was activated. 5:49 p.m. A caller reported some possible malicious mischief to her vehicle in the Rosedale area. A deputy investigated.
December 6 — 4:34 p.m. Two calls came in about animals in the Skamokawa area that appeared to be neglected. A deputy responded and took pictures. 7:18 p.m. A deputy, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a one vehicle accident in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified because a power pole had been struck. There were no injuries reported.
December 7 — 9:47 a.m. A deputy responded to a one vehicle accident in the Elochoman Valley. There were no injuries reported. 10:17 a.m. A caller reported that a couple individuals had been trespassing on his Rosedale property. 1:07 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 1:40 p.m. A caller reported a trespasser on her Elochoman Valley property. 3:12 p.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. 3:18 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down on SR 4 near Cathlamet. 3:44 p.m. A caller reported that he would be repossessing a vehicle in the Cathlamet area. 5:20 p.m. A caller reported that he had found a dog. The owner was found. 5:34 p.m. A caller reported that someone was speeding down a Puget Island road on an ATV. 7:15 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in Grays River. 9:18 p.m. An assault was reported at the county jail.
December 8 — 1:29 p.m. A caller complained about two vehicles that had been parked carelessly along an Elochoman Valley road. 1:42 p.m. Deputies and the Skamokawa ambulance responded to a traffic accident on SR 4 just east of Skamokawa. An individual was injured. 3:26 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident when a car went over an embankment in the Rosedale area. 4:09 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department aided a Puget Island resident who became concerned when the seal came off her stove. 5:58 p.m. Deputies responded when a caller reported that a driver had gone over an embankment in the Flandersville area. 9:08 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a family member was using his debit card. 10:16 a.m. A caller reported that roommates were fighting. One believed that the other was stealing her medications. 10:39 p.m. An alarm was activated in Cathlamet. The responsible person could not be contacted. A deputy found everything secure. Another agreed to drive by the address on his way home.
December 9 — 3:49 a.m. A caller reported that he needed a tow from a place on Beaver Creek. He was advised to contact his wife and ask her to bring another vehicle in order to tow him out. 6:54 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was in a ditch in the Cathlamet area. 7:41 a.m. A caller was concerned after finding footprints all around the house. A deputy investigated and found that they were animal prints. 8:46 a.m. A caller reported that a child was struck by a parent in the Rosburg area. There was a history of verbal abuse according to the report. 8:58 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor’s dog was harassing her animals. 12:13 a.m. A caller reported a boulder in the eastbound lane of SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:08 p.m. A caller reported that street lights were out on Columbia St. in Cathlamet. 7:07 p.m. A caller reported that he was depressed. A mental health representative was en route.
December 10 — 2:15 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. A deputy checked around and found nothing. 2:41 a.m. A one vehicle accident was reported near County Line Park. The Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 Fire Department responded. Injuries were unknown.
