Last Thursday at the Port District 1 meeting, commissioners tackled some of the finer details that still needed to be worked out for the dredging project.
The work boat, a small tug that the port had recently purchased, arrived recently, and the port has ordered 24 sections of 50 foot dredge pipe, totaling $17,914.18.
The commissioners discussed the welding of an A-frame on the boat and anchors. Port Manager Jackie Lea was asked to move forward on the project.
"A port engineer at Brusco told me he had a lot of surplus stuff over there, so whatever we need, he would help us out," Commissioner Brett Deaton said.
There was some talk about dredge spoils but nothing was determined.
Commissioners also conversed about replacing the launch ramp, which has been damaged by boaters who power on to their trailers.
Lea explained their options. One would require the area to be dammed so the ramp could be poured. The other option would be to install precast boat ramp sections. The commissioners asked her to come back with some numbers before they decide how to move forward.
No bids came in for a project to hook up water to the fish cleaning station and Lea was asked to use the small works roster to complete the project.
Commissioners approved the only bid, approximately $5,000 from Sessions Plumbing in Longview, that came in for the replacement of a water main and backflow at the port.
Finally, the commissioners approved a resolution to adopt amendments to the comprehensive port district development plan.
