N/GRV School Board Meeting Notes

The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on November 15.

The board approved the following Policies: 4218 Language Access, 4210 Dangerous Weapons, 5001 Hiring Retired School Employees, 6882 Sale of Real Property, 5610 Substitute Employment and 3410 Student Health.

Stephanie Gudmundsen and Nathan Bruce were hired as part-time para-educators for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year.

The board declared as surplus felled and decked trees that were cut as a result of the access road being built off of Highway 4.

K-12 Principal, Quinn Donlon, reviewed the building goals for the year. Youth Camp Principal Gary Flood shared that eight general education degrees had been earned so far this school year.

The following highlights were shared: a large turnout was present for the Veterans Day Assembly, the volleyball team placed seventh at State and football has a quarterfinal game this Friday against Lummi Nation at Bellingham.

Middle School football coaches Jim Moten and Ryley Queener were recognized for leading the team to an undefeated season.

There will be a special board meeting on December 7 to open bids for the multi-purpose building.

A mid-year evaluation of the superintendent was conducted in executive session.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be December 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grays-River Fire Hall.
