Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Tsuga Gallery presents “Generations” an exhibit by member Gail Wahlstrom and her grandson Justin L’Amie, an accomplished artist from the Portland area. An artists’ reception will be held Saturday, October 29 from 5-7 p.m., with music and refreshments. This exhibit will continue through November 19.
When Gail was asked about her grandson, Justin, she replied “Of course my memories are of a little brown-eyed boy, putting on plays with his sister. His Grampa and I loved watching him, always making art, as a tiny boy, and into his later years. Justin now lives and works in Portland. He graduated with a BA from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. His art is part of the PDX Gallery in the Pearl District of Portland, being fortunate to have solo showings of his work several times. Nature is his constant inspiration.”
And when asked to share a little about herself her modest response was “I am just a Gramma! Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Janet Cimino was a dear friend; her friendship is how I came to be involved in the Tsuga Gallery. The gallery is a wondertful group of people working together for a common goal, making the best art we know how, while growing together. Nature is also my bailiwick, in the respect that my “canvas” is birch bark, feathers, leaves and gourds. What fun to be part of a showing with my grandson!”
The gallery is located at 70 Main St., Cathlamet and is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or their website is http://www.tsugagallery.org.
