In wet and sloppy conditions, the Toledo Indians pounded the Wahkiakum Mules for a 41-12 Victory last Friday.
Toledo scored twice and the Mules once in the first quarter as the hosts took a 14-6 lead. The Mules' touchdown came on a 15-yard pass play from Lucas Brown to Hank Ferguson.
Toledo added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 28-14 at halftime. They scored in the third quarter to boost the lead to 35-6 and early in the fourth quarter to go ahead 41-6.
Brown connected with James Anderson at 4:46 of the fourth quarter to create the final margin.
"We played better in the second half," said Mule Coach Eric Hansen. "We had a better effort overall than we had against Kalama."
The Mules generated 65 yards of rushing offense and 57 yards of passing offense against fourth-ranked Toledo. Brown completed six of 16 passes, with two interceptions and two touchdowns. Terris Record led the rushing with 42 yards; Ferguson gained 18. Cody Terpsma caught three passes for 25 yards; Ferguson caught two for 26 yards and one touchdown; James Anderson caught one for a 14-yard touchdown, and Record had one pass for a one-yard gain.
Defensive statistics weren't available.
The Mules host the Winlock Cardinals this Friday in the annual homecoming game.
Activities start at 6:30 p.m. with introductions of senior players for fall sports teams. The game will begin at 7 p.m., and the homecoming court will be presented at halftime.
