Retiring judge supports Goelz

To The Eagle:

I write to support Doug Goelz for Superior Court Judge. But I will start by thanking the readers for allowing me to serve as a judge for 38 years, beginning in 1976.

The job was very rewarding for me but also very challenging. A good judge needs to work very hard and apply the law carefully and in a way that makes sense for the people of our rural counties. This year you have the opportunity to select your next Superior Court Judge.

I have known Doug Goelz since well before he began serving you as a District Court judge beginning in 1988. Doug and his wife Mary have been very active in a broad range of community activities. Doug’s volunteer work has mostly been with children, from youth basketball to helping me guide Boy Scouts down wilderness rivers. Doug and Mary raised two great children, Darcey and Joe.

On the legal side, Doug is known for independence and careful application of the law. On the personal side, Doug is a wonderful parent, a community helper and a reliable friend to many. I would be proud to have Doug Goelz as our next Superior Court Judge. Please give him your careful consideration.
