To The Eagle:
The voters of Wahkiakum and Pacific counties have a number of critical decisions to make when they vote between October 21 and November 8. One of chief importance is who should serve as our next Superior Court Judge. Fortunately, we have an extremely well-qualified candidate in Doug Goelz.
Having been an attorney practicing almost exclusively in Wahkiakum and Pacific counties for 21 years, and having served as a judicial officer for 12 years in Wahkiakum, Pacific, and Cowlitz Counties, I have had the opportunity to observe and to work with many local attorneys and judges. A number of people have asked me who I’m voting for and why. I feel strongly enough about my choice to share this information with all Eagle readers.
For more than two decades, I’ve observed Judge Goelz’s abilities on the bench, in the courtroom as an attorney, and in the office interacting with court staff and other attorneys. Without fail, Judge Goelz has displayed excellent substantive knowledge of the law, the work ethic and skill to research complex issues, efficient management skills in a busy courtroom, the ability to make prompt, well-reasoned decisions, and substantial experience in the very wide range of issues that our Superior Court judge must address (criminal law, family law, land use, real estate, and probates). In addition, Judge Goelz has served as a pro tem or visiting judge for many cases in Wahkiakum County over the years, and understands our community well.
Please join me in voting for Doug Goelz for Wahkiakum and Pacific Superior Court Judge.
Sincerely,
Heidi L. Heywood
