The Bank of the Cascades recently contributed $2,500 to the Wahkiakum School District to ensure that local students can afford to participate in school sponsored sports programs. The funds will be split between the districts pay-to-play program ($1,000) and an associated student body (ASB) fund that covers lodging for high school teams. Superintendent Bob Garrett said the gift is welcome because ASB funds have been depleted in recent years. "Through its generous contribution, Bank of the Cascades is helping to ensure that cost is not an issue for any student with a desire and aptitude for competitive sports, Garrett said.
