Sheriff's Report, August 11, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August August 2 — 5:43 a.m. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to a two vehicle accident in Grays River. Injuries were reported. 12:02 p.m. A caller reported that two eastbound vehicles were speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on SR 4. 12:40 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on some juveniles at a Puget Island home. 5:49 p.m. A portion of Salmon Creek Road was closed through the night.

August 3 — 12:57 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. A manager was contacted and en route. 8:27 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose on Puget Island. The owner was notified. 8:35 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a power saw had been stolen. 10:58 a.m. A caller reported cows on a Puget Island road. The owner was notified. 2:25 p.m. A caller reported a theft at a Cathlamet business. 4:55 p.m. A deputy was requested to unlock a vehicle in Cathlamet with a baby inside. 8:22 a.m. A welfare check was requested on a woman in Deep River. The caller was concerned that she was being abused. An individual was taken into custody.

August 4 — 12:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had abdominal pain. 9:55 a.m. A caller reported that a bull was charging cars on S. Welcome Slough Road. The owner was contacted. 3:43 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that he had no water. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. 5:39 p.m. A report came in that someone was taking advantage of a vulnerable adult in the Rosedale area. 5:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with respiratory issues. 10:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with chest pain. 10:37 p.m. A deputy responded when a caller reported that several people with flashlights were looking down an embankment along SR 4 near Nassa Point. A dog had been hit by a car and was missing.

August 5 — 10:52 a.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated a no contact order in the Rosedale area. 12:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident found a kitten. 1:23 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down on SR 4 and was partially blocking the westbound lane in the Rosedale area. 1:26 p.m. A one vehicle accident was reported on SR 4 near Rosedale. 5:41 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that a man had stopped by the house and was acting strangely. The man told the resident that he wanted to buy a car to escape to the coast because the world was ending. The Cathlamet ambulance and a mental health professional responded.

August 6 — 1:07 a.m. A caller reported that a man who appeared to be inebriated was trying to walk along SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 11:43 a.m. A caller reported that a driver had hit a deer on SR 4 near Nassa Point. The deer was deceased and there was some damage to the vehicle. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported that people were leaving garbage at the recycling bins on Puget Island. 8:45 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired in the Skamokawa area. 8:56 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported hearing shots fired. 10:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident with chest pain. 10:58 p.m. A caller reported a loud party at a Cathlamet home. A deputy went to the home and spoke to the people about the noise. 11:52 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that her neighbor’s dogs were in her yard again. A deputy contacted the owner.

August 7 — 2:01 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 9:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with pneumonia and abdominal pain. 10:52 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that their vehicle had been struck during the night. 11:00 a.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to an abandoned vehicle that was on fire in the Eagle Cliff area. 11:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a man with an injured finger. It had gotten smashed in the door of a Rosedale business. 12:19 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that there had been low water pressure all day. The PUD was notified. 2:07 p.m. A caller reported smelling gas near the spot his boat was moored at the marina in Cathlamet. After investigating, the manager reported that the boat next to his was filled with gas. She left a message for the boat owner. 2:34 p.m. A caller reported that a man walking west on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area looked like he needed assistance. 6:11 p.m. A caller reported finding two young dogs on SR 4 near Nassa Point.
