To The Eagle:
After our forthcoming elections are finalized in November, and our new leaders are in place, and their promises have been made, what should they do? What are our true/immediate/important needs to be addressed/prioritized and resolved?
I believe there are two main objectives of our/any government. They are to insure our safety, promote a harmonious life for all, and promote a prosperous economy. Here in alphabetical order are my five top issues that need to be resolved; Discrimination, Education (address/resolve student loan debacle-promote education), Environment (for US and world, we are over consuming our planet), Immigration (now uncontrolled), and Term limits (12-years max for Senators and Representatives). Yes, each of these topics deserves more detailed explanations. In regards to issues of God and guns, these are guaranteed by the Constitution. Save your ideas for church and the gun shops.
To list just five issues is difficult. Three other issues of importance to me are to provide unlimited support (emotional, empathy, financial and medical) for veterans and their families, more seriously address corruption and especially white-collar crime and control drug use. I solicit readers to send in their top five goals for our nation.
And finally for me on a local issue, what would be good for Wahkiakum County? Based on facts and performance, I would like to see the removal of the county’s district court Judge and his nepotistic nephew, the prosecuting attorney from office. Have we ever reviewed their performance?
