Call for free lunches

To The Eagle:

Since July 5, Mondays through Thursdays from 12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m., we have offered free summer lunches to anyone 18 years and younger at J.A. Wendt Elementary in the multipurpose room. We have had a wonderful time over the last few weeks serving lunches to the kids in our community. As we are getting ready to finish up next week, we wanted to say thank you.

For all the local businesses that helped make treat Tuesday special: Gragg's General Store, Waterway Espresso, Sharon's Pizza Mill, Chevron on Highway 4, and the Cathlamet Market. Thank you.

To all our mystery guests on Mondays: Thank you. To Maria's Restaurant for all those free sodas on Thursdays: Thank you.

To the many people in our community who volunteered, those who donated goods or gave monetarily, Wahkiakum Sheriff's Department, Wahkiakum On The Move, the Wahkiakum Health Department, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and the Wahkiakum School District: Thank you.

Lastly, we would like to say thank you to the amazing kids in our community. We have enjoyed seeing you for lunch and we are so grateful for your smiles as well as all your "pleases" and "thank yous." You have made this Summer Lunch Program a joy!

If your kids haven't made it over to the school for lunches yet- no worries! There are still a few more left.

Today, Thursday, August 11: Join us for our last Thirsty Thursday; lunch is chili. Afterwards, take your special cup to Maria's Restaurant for a free soda.

Monday, August 15: Lunch is chicken salad. Our last Mystery Guest Monday is super special because there will be two guests with prizes.

Tuesday, August 16: Lunch is make your own pizzas. Our last Treat Tuesday courtesy of Chevron.

Wednesday, August 17: Lunch is teriyaki chicken. Our last Wacky Wednesday will be "Rrr" best yet, Mateys. Each buccaneer will get to take home a treasure chest of wackiness.

Thanks again for a great summer!

This program is an equal opportunity provider.
