Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It was Wacky Wednesday at the Summer Food Rocks program in the J.A. Wendt Elementary School's multipurpose room and volunteers dressed up to put a smile on the faces of local youth as they served teriyaki chicken.
There were 35 kids that day, a big increase from the usual 20-25 that volunteers have been seeing Monday through Thursday. It was loud, bright and happy as the kids chatted, ate, and played together.
The volunteers gave out goofy glasses with a mustache and nose to all who attended.
Lunch is served to anyone under the age of 18 from 12:00-12:30 and is free of charge. The program ends on August 17. For more information, contact Danielle Hobbs at 849-4412 or email wahkiakumsummerfood@gmail.com.
