Sheriff's Report, July 21, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 11 — 5:34 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 7:39 p.m. A caller reported that there were cows on a Puget Island road. 8:09 p.m. A caller reported that there were cows on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. The owner was notified. 9:15 p.m. A caller reported that a man in a vehicle was chasing a woman running down SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 10:02 p.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on an Elochoman Valley road. 10:05 p.m. A caller reported a fight at a Cathlamet residence. Deputies responded and spoke with the couple who said they stopped fighting when their children woke up. 10:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with chest pain.

July 12 — 6:21 a.m. A Skamokawa resident complained that his neighbor’s cows were in his yard for the fourth day in a row. The owner was notified. 7:48 a.m. A Deep River road was closed for several hours when a culvert was replaced. 12:31 p.m. A caller reported cows on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 4:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that he had been told that someone was on his property cutting firewood while he was out of town. A deputy investigated and found footprints. 5:25 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident who had access to guns and had threatened suicide. A deputy made contact, and the individual said that there was no truth to the report. 7:45 p.m. The front door of a Cathlamet business was found unlocked. A deputy was asked to check it out.

July 13 — 8:46 a.m. A caller reported that there were nearly 30 cows on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 11:37 a.m. An individual reported that he was being harassed. He was advised to apply for a no contact order. 10:46 p.m. A caller reported that a couple had been fighting for a little over a half hour in the Elochoman Valley. The caller called back a couple minutes later to report that the domestic disturbance had stopped. 11:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a strong smell of diesel and burning plastic.

July 14 — 9:23 a.m. A deputy was requested to stand by while someone from another agency spoke with an individual in Cathlamet. 12:05 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that several items including jewelry were stolen when her boyfriend moved out of the home. 3:08 p.m. A caller reported an unknown horse was loose on a Skamokawa road. 4:11 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported low water pressure. 4:49 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported at a Beaver Creek home. 7:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who wasn’t breathing. He was revived. 9:09 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a smoke alarm was activated in a Cathlamet home and the resident could not shut it off.

July 15 — 4:16 p.m. Deputies, the Puget Island Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two car accident on Puget Island. 7:55 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 10:19 p.m. A Grays River resident was concerned that an inebriated man was going to drive. 11:27 p.m. A caller complained about loud music coming from a restaurant in Cathlamet. 11:39 p.m. A deputy was requested at a Skamokawa park because inebriated campers would not be quiet.

July 16 — 4:56 a.m. A caller reported that a sailboat had sunk near Brookfield. The Coast Guard was notified. 8:14 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 2:12 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to a fire on Beaver Creek. A fire investigator was requested. 2:14 p.m. Deputies responded to a two car accident on Beaver Creek Rd. A deputy said that no aid was needed. 5:46 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 6:08 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that he had been threatened by a neighbor over easement rights. 6:30 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 7:01 p.m. A man who appeared to be inebriated was walking along SR 4. The caller was concerned he might get hit. 7:46 p.m. Deputies attempted to locate an individual who had threatened to kill himself. They made contact and he said he did not intend to harm himself, he had only said it to upset his former girlfriend. 9:44 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop at the marina in Cathlamet.

July 17 — 1:54 a.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire at a Skamokawa park. 2:53 a.m. A caller reported that campers at a Skamokawa park were being extremely loud. 9 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his gnome had been stolen from his back yard. Nearly nine hours later, the resident reported that the gnome had been returned. 9:58 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a bad smell; he thought it might be human waste. 12:07 p.m. A caller reported that the shell on his truck had been stolen while it was parked in the marina parking lot. 1:51 p.m. A caller reported that vehicles were speeding through Skamokawa and asked for extra patrols. 2:39 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in an unapproved pit in Cathlamet. 4:11 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.
