Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
July 4 — 8:40 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the Elochoman Valley. 11:56 a.m. A door alarm was activated on KM. 1:20 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down on an Elochoman Valley road. The county road department was notified. 1:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had blood in his urine. 2:24 p.m. A door alarm was activated on KM. 3:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had burned his foot. 6:27 p.m. A door alarm was activated on KM. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 7:30 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department, and the Grays River ambulance responded when two people were injured in an ATV accident in Deep River.
July 5 — 1:41 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone was using a spotlight near her home. A deputy responded but was unable to find anything. 6:06 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor had come to his home and woke up his family, upset that his dog had defecated in her yard. The caller said his dog had been inside all night. He wanted the neighbor to be prohibited from entering his property. The neighbor called and complained about previous caller’s dog defecating in her yard. 10:01 a.m. A caller reported that a septic alarm had been activated at an Elochoman Valley home. 11:13 a.m. A Puget Island resident asked for a deputy to try to determine who had left a bag of trash on the side of the road. 2:04 p.m. The caller who reported the bag of trash on the side of the road said that she had found personal papers in the trash bag and had attempted to make contact. 8:13 p.m. A couple calls came in about a person going door to door in Cathlamet asking people to open an account with a television service provider.
July 6 — 8:08 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to numerous complaints in the county about a power outage. They were unable to contact a representative from the PUD. 12:52 p.m. A caller reported that there was a tree down, partially blocking the east bound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 2:32 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Cathlamet. There was no fire, but the caller needed assistance resetting the alarm. 3:57 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Puget Island resident. 4:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had lost consciousness. Life Flight was activated.
July 7 — 3:55 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a power outage in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified. 3:45 p.m. The Grays River ambulance assisted with lifting a Deep River resident.
July 8 — 9:20 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. 1:35 p.m. A caller requested a jump start in Cathlamet. 5:26 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident found a dog. 5:57 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 7:03 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about a neighbor’s dog. 7:42 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 near Nassa Point.
July 9 — 12:39 a.m. A caller requested assistance after being locked out of a vehicle in Skamokawa. 1:41 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a vehicle had stopped in front of her home and that several people had gotten out of it. The owner of the vehicle called and said that the car had broken down and that they would be back later to pick it up. 7:25 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone had hit and then driven through his garage during the night. 11:22 a.m. Deputies were asked to be on the lookout for an individual with a warrant in Cowlitz County. 4:39 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a car belonging to the neighbors looked like it had been involved in an accident. The caller thought it was odd that they were parking the vehicle behind the home instead of in its normal place in the driveway. 5:30 p.m. Photographs were taken of the vehicle that appeared to have sustained damage in an accident. 7:23 p.m. A caller reported that five cows were loose in the Skamokawa area. 8:41 p.m. A caller reported that someone had driven on the football field in Cathlamet and torn it up. Deputies reviewed camera footage and found recording of the incident. 11:01 p.m. A caller reported that his vehicle had been damaged when he struck a deer on an Elochoman Valley road. The deceased deer was removed from the roadway.
July 10 — 12:25 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing shots fired. 7:47 a.m. A caller reported that horses were loose in the Skamokawa area. The owner was contacted. 9:34 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that he was having a property line dispute with his neighbor and that his neighbor was removing fence posts. He was advised to speak to an attorney about the civil matter. 11:39 a.m. A Skamokawa resident complained about vehicles speeding past his home. He asked for a patrol car to come by. 5:06 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident. 6:58 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose in the Skamokawa area. A message was left for the owner. 8:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had been scalded when he used a pressure cooker. 9:30 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when an upset individual called saying that he needed to speak to his son before he needed an ambulance. 9:57 a.m. A caller reported that a flare or firework had been seen in the Rosburg area along the Columbia River. The Coast Guard was sending a helicopter to check the area and asked for a deputy to check on land. The deputy saw no signs of distress in the area. 10:44 a.m. A caller reported seeing a truck chasing four kids who were walking in the Rosedale area. The truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and the kids tried to hide. The truck was later seen with several kids in it. 11:36 p.m. A caller complained about kids playing hide and seek on his property. They were asked to leave.
July 11 — 12:21 a.m. An individual was taken into custody in the Elochoman Valley. 2:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had back pain and difficulty breathing.
