Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
June 20 — 1:09 a.m. The Coast Guard was notified after a deputy failed to locate four boaters who were overdue from a cruise on the river. 10:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 1:30 p.m. A motorist complained that another driver had run him off SR 4 near Cathlamet. 1:49 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to a grass fire in an empty lot on Puget Island. 4:31 p.m. A row boat was seen in the Columbia River. Columbia County officials had a boat in the water and were en route to investigate. 7:25 p.m. A Little Cape Horn resident found a kite board sail that had washed ashore. Columbia and Clatsop County were contacted and said that no one had been reported missing. 11:25 p.m. A caller reported that someone was prowling a Rosedale business in a vehicle. Washington State Patrol responded. He spoke to the group of juveniles in the vehicle after pulling them over.
June 21 — 11:38 a.m. A caller reported that his boat, motor and trailer had been stolen. A deputy followed up and found out there had been some confusion about a renter’s property and that the caller’s boat was still there. 1:29 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported identity theft. 5:42 p.m. An outside agency asked the sheriff’s office to contact a Puget Island resident whose vehicle had been found on an Oregon highway with slashed tires and broken windows.
June 22 — 12:29 p.m. A caller reported that someone had been harassing his elderly mother for some time. People had been knocking on her door and running away, ringing the phone and hanging up, and throwing things at her home. A deputy spoke with a suspect. 2:52 p.m. A caller reported that an individual who had driven to the Health and Human Services campus in the Elochoman Valley appeared to be intoxicated. 6:04 p.m. A caller reported that a lot of money had been stolen over a long period of time, possibly by a family member. 6:10 p.m. A caller reported that two family members were fighting with pitchforks in the Rosedale area. The two were separated. 6:39 p.m. A caller reported that a person who had been kicked out of a Cathlamet business had returned. 8:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his mailbox had been damaged. 9:06 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested extra patrols at her home because she was afraid her ex-boyfriend would come and take things when she was gone. She planned to get a restraining order on Thursday. 9:08 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that she was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. At 9:35, the Puget Island resident reported that a white car had gone by and that her ex-boyfriend spent time with someone who drove a white car. A deputy spoke to the ex-boyfriend and determined that there had been no crime committed at that time.
June 23 — 10:58 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his stove was making a funny noise. 5:30 p.m. A theft was reported at the marina in Cathlamet. 10:19 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded when someone reported hearing a loud explosion and saw a couple buildings smoking in the Rosedale area. 11:30 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department and deputies responded when a caller reported hearing a smoke alarm at a Cathlamet residence. A deputy investigated and found no one at home. The doors were locked but there were open windows and no sign of smoke.
June 24 — 7:57 a.m. A caller reported that an Elochoman Valley resident had written a suicide note and left the home around 3:00 a.m. in his vehicle. 9:28 a.m. A caller asked that a deputy would request an unwanted, possibly intoxicated individual sitting in front of her Cathlamet home to leave. 10:40 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that someone was burning garbage at night. 2:18 p.m. An outside agency asked that a Puget Island resident be interviewed after a recent vehicle prowl. 9:59 p.m. An east county resident reported that a tree was down next to his driveway, making it difficult to pull out onto SR 4. The Washington State Department of Transportation was notified. 11:29 p.m. A door alarm was activated on KM. A deputy investigated and found everything secure.
June 25 — 4:39 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who was having trouble breathing. 10:12 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who may have had a stroke. Life Flight was activated. 12:07 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down in the westbound lane of SR 4 just west of Nassa Point. 1:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was in pain and vomiting blood. 4:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 5:07 p.m. A Deep River resident was taken into custody after an assault. 6:25 p.m. The mental health department was notified after a Puget Island resident with dementia became aggressive and tried to leave his home. At 7:32 p.m., the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the scene. 10:12 p.m. A caller reported that an intoxicated man was yelling at an elderly woman in the Rosedale area.
June 26 — 7:56 a.m. A caller reported that there was no water in the Rosedale area. 9:04 a.m. A caller reported that pigs were running all over the golf course. He said he would shoot them if they started destroying the greens. The owner of the pigs acknowledged that they had gotten loose repeatedly that week. The deputy discovered that the owner’s fence did not meet regulation standards and gave him a final warning. The owner retrieved his pigs and the owner of the golf course was advised to call if they returned. 11:34 a.m. A driver was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in the Cathlamet area. 2:53 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that her dog had been stolen. The dog had been locked in a kennel. 4:58 p.m. A driver was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test. 8:22 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to what turned out to be a false alarm in Cathlamet. 9:47 p.m. Deputies responded after dispatch received a call from someone who appeared to be suicidal. At 10:42 p.m. the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to the scene.
