The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on June 21st.
Several personnel moves were approved. These included the hiring of fifth grade teacher Tamara Bosch, part-time Spanish teacher Eileen Williams, para-educator Herlet Watson, JV boys’ basketball coach Tucker Glenn, middle school volleyball coach Hanna Higginbotham, and cross-country coach Scott Smith.
The board also approved the following: Wellness Policy 6700, salaries for the non-represented employees, Youth Camp summer school contracts for Russ Hickman and Chantal Knudson, expenditures for the covered play area/multi-purpose room, purchases of replacement servers and computers for the Youth Camp and K-12 school, and contracts with ESD 112 for student services. Bud Strange was also appointed as the Board’s Legislative Representative for the next two years.
In other matters, Superintendent Nelson recognized the baseball team for its third place finish at the state tournament and members of the track and field team for the hardware they earned at state in Cheney. Track coaches Denny and Smith, and baseball coaches Lindstrom and Dorman, were presented with plaques. Special comment was made regarding the efforts of former Transportation Director Ed Engelson, who filled in during an employee absence and bus driver, Larry Brignone, who also helped with activity scheduling and bus trips.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting is July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Middle School Commons. A budget hearing will be held on the same night, beginning at 5 p.m., also in the Middle School Commons.
