Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Patricia D. Schubert

Patricia Diane Schubert, age 73 of Cathlamet, passed away in her sleep at home on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Peter and June (Herrn) McShane on April 23, 1943.

Patricia (Pat) graduated from high school in Minnesota in 1961. She then began her career as a flight attendant where she met Frank Leo Schubert. They were married on October 4, 1963.

Pat and Frank moved to Seattle where they both attended the University of Washington. In the 1970's they moved to Castle Rock, Washington. Their house on the Toutle River was destroyed when Mount St. Helen's erupted in 1980. They moved to Cathlamet and lived the remainder of their lives in the Elochoman Valley.

Pat lost both of her parents when she was a young child and was inspired to choose caring for the elderly community her career. She opened her own business in the 1990's and accomplished her goal of providing the elderly in her care a safe, loving home in a peaceful, rural setting.

Pat enjoyed nature, gardening, collecting rocks, and storytelling. She never tired of gazing out her window at the beautiful valley she loved.

Pat is survived by her son, Mark (Tina) Schubert of Cathlamet; grandchildren Brittanie, Steven, Seth and Delaney; and her siblings Sharon, Dan and Colleen.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Frank and her daughter, Nicole.

Her adult life was spent caring for the elderly and she always felt that she was the one that benefited from their knowledge and love. In lieu of donations or flowers, Pat requested people take a moment out their busy day and make an effort to let the elderly people in their life know they are loved and appreciated.

Pat requested a private family service but wanted to thank all that came into her life. Arrangements were provided by Dowling McVicker Funeral Home.
