Sheriff's Report, June 9, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 30 — 1:29 p.m. A caller reported that a boat belonging to a Skamokawa resident had washed ashore at Jones Beach near Westport. The individual was contacted; he had sold the boat a month earlier. 5:08 p.m. A tow was requested after a truck and trailer broke down and were blocking lanes on SR 4 near the summit of KM. 5:40 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that he had received a bill for a toll on the 520 bridge in Seattle. The caller said that the license plates specified in the bill had been stolen. A deputy checked and found that the plates had not been in use for many years. 11:07 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with a rapid heart rate.

May 31 — 7:05 a.m. A caller reported that a former girlfriend was selling his belongings. The woman denied it but admitted that she had boxed up his knives because she was worried he might return. She claimed she was trying to move out. The caller was advised to contact his attorney to discuss the matter further. 10:49 a.m. A Cathlamet business received a counterfeit bill. 6:06 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Rosedale area. 7:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Elochoman Valley resident.

June 1 — 10:30 a.m. A caller reported that the power had been turned off at a Rosburg home after a fraudulent call from someone pretending to be the homeowner. 12:45 p.m. A caller was concerned about a man walking along SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 3:33 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a theft.

June 2 — 7:30 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 8:02 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident who had not been seen in several days. A deputy went to the home, but no one was there. 12:53 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an individual had violated a no contact order. 4:56 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that ammunition had been stolen. 7:45 p.m. A Grays River resident sought advice about a juvenile. 8:00 p.m. A caller found what he believed might be stolen items in a garbage can at County Line Park. 8:34 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a trespasser. 11:42 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and a representative from the mental health department responded to a Cathlamet address when a caller reported hearing an individual screaming that he did not want to die that night.

June 3 — 5:57 a.m. Several 911 calls came in from a cell phone in Grays River. Dispatch made contact. It turned out that the individual had fallen asleep on top of the phone.

June 4 — 9:42 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Deep River resident after the U.S Coast Guard found some of his possessions. He was located and the items were returned to him. 10:49 The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had suffered a cut to her leg. 2:25 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two vehicle accident near Nassa Point. 2:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that someone was shooting guns near the river. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported that several dogs had been left inside a very hot tent at a park in Skamokawa. 5:43 p.m. A caller reported a disturbance on a Rosedale road after a man told a child to stay off the road. 5:53 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded after a vehicle hit a deer on a Skamokawa road.

June 5 — 6:48 p.m. A caller in the Rosedale area asked for assistance after getting locked out of his car.

June 6 — 5:25 a.m. A caller reported that a tree branch was blocking one lane of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 10:45 a.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated a no contact order.
