Cemetery clean up day set for May 21

The Seal River Cemetery annual clean up day is scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m., at the cemetery.

A board meeting will be held at the Grays River Fire Hall at 11 a.m. for a short annual business meeting.

Volunteers are asked to bring tools/equipment, soft bristled brushes, jugs of water for cleaning headstones and rain gear or sun screen depending on the weather.

One of the biggest expenses each year is the mowing of the cemetery, but it is the clearing of brush along the edges of the property, trimming around headstones, shrubbery and tree trimming and picking up the dead grass on clean up days that make a difference throughout the year. The cleaning of headstones makes them nice for families visiting on Memorial Day weekend.
