Track and field athletes head to sub-district

The Wahkiakum Mule track and field team finished out the regular season competing against eight other teams in the Pacific 1B/2B meet in Naselle last Thursday. The Mules took third place in the men's competition with 48 points and the Lady Mules took second place in women's competition with 161 points.

Grace Peacock won the 100 meters with a time of 13.60 and placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 28.30, two personal records for the senior.

Rory Heywood won the 200 meters with a time of 28.02. She also won the triple jump, leaping 29-11.

McKensi Fluckiger won the long jump with a distance of 13-09 and took fourth place in the triple jump, clearing 29-04.5.

Cheyenne Barton, Macie Elliott, Tyra Elliott, and Peacock won the 4 x 100 meter relay race with a time of 54.16. Barton, T. Elliott, R. Heywood, and Peacock won the 4 x 200 meter relay as well, with a time of 1:53.65.

Barton, T. Elliott, Ellie Leitz, and Grayci Thomas placed second in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:49.85.

T. Elliott finished the 400 meters in 1:06.93 and took second place. Barton wasn't far behind, she finished in 1:09.08 and took third.

Leitz took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:37.15 and Thomas finished in third with a time of 2:42.76. Leitz also took second place in the triple jump with a distance of 29-11.

M. Elliott placed second in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:47.98. She took fifth place in the discus with a throw of 80-07.

Katharine Choi placed fifth in the 3200 meters with a time of 17:33.16.

Charlie Ashe took fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles and second place in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 20.23 and 56.00 respectively. She took second place in the high jump, clearing 4-06.

Destiny McGowan took fifth place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 58.32.

Mia Li took fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 11-03.

Ryan Quigley led the men's team with two second place finishes in the high jump, clearing 5-08 and the long jump, with a distance of 17-07. He also took sixth place in the triple jump with a distance of 35-04.

Flavio Stucki finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.48. Josiah Romines took sixth place with a time of 2:34.71.

Putter Thongkijlaohachai finished the 3200 meters in 13:12.76 and took fourth place.

Jaiden Mahitka took sixth place in the 200 meters with a time of 25.79.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Mahitka, Quigley, Romines and Thongkijlaohachai finished in third place with a time of 50.33.

The Central League sub-district is scheduled for Friday in Napavine. Qualifying athletes will continue on to the district meet on Thursday in Raymond. The State Meet is scheduled for May 26-28 in Cheney.
