Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
May 2 — 11:16 a.m. Deputies responded to the report of a domestic assault at a Rosedale home. 3:26 p.m. A caller reported a westbound motorist speeding on SR 4. The driver passed multiple cars before nearly causing an accident near Nassa Point.
May 3 — 2:46 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that he had to change the fuel in his lawn mower twice before it would start. He also wanted the sheriff’s office to know that his neighbor was behaving oddly again. 11:49 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that he had been assaulted by a family member. Deputies responded but were unable to locate the subject. 4:17 p.m. A caller reported a sexual assault that happened 20 years ago.
May 4 — 4:27 p.m. A caller reported that a former boyfriend had gained access to some of her online accounts. 6:20 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address.
May 5 — 1:25 a.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an accident on SR 4 in the Little Cape Horn area. 11:13 a.m. A caller was concerned about a dog that had been left in a motor home on Puget Island. A deputy reported that it was 62 degrees and that windows had been left open. The Humane Society determined that the dog was okay. 12:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with his oxygen tank. 4:15 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in Cathlamet. It was towed. 6:08 p.m. A purse was found at a Cathlamet business. 8:42 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.
May 6 — 9:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had injured her back. 10:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 1:11 p.m. The Longview Police Department requested assistance with a hit and run when a vehicle was struck in the parking lot of a Longview business. 4:01 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire on Puget Island. 4:13 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle. 7:03 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an Elochoman Valley resident. 11:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident.
May 7 — 3:20 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident. 10:04 a.m. A caller reported that she was being harassed online. 3:36 p.m. A caller reported that all the locks had been broken on a fish trap in the Elochoman Valley. Nothing was missing. 4:22 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that there were three juveniles trespassing on his property. 5:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who needed help with an oxygen tank. 7:43 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department, the District 4 Fire Department, deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an accident on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 9:37 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident. Life Flight was on standby but was called off due to weather.
May 8 — 12:01 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River resident. 10:43 a.m. A caller reported what he believed to be industrial detergent in the Columbia River. 1:19 p.m. A caller reported an empty raft in the Columbia River near the ferry landing on Puget Island. The Coast Guard was notified.
