Track & Field: Mules participate in the Kalama Twilight meet

The Wahkiakum Mules track and field team competed against 14 other teams from Washington and Oregon in the Kalama Twilight meet last Friday. The Mules were two of three 2B teams that participated. The other 11 teams represented 1A to 4A schools.

The Lady Mules earned 37 points and took ninth place in girl’s competition.

Senior Grace Peacock placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.69, 0.03 seconds slower than her prelim time. She also placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 28.71.

Senior Rory Heywood placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 28.69. Heywood took fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-08.

Freshman Ellie Leitz finished the 800 meters in 2:39.36 and took fifth place. She also placed fifth in the triple jump, clearing 31-00.25.

Freshman Macie Elliott continued to improve her time in the 1600 meters, finishing in 5:48.24 and taking third place.

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cheyenne Barton, M. Elliott, R. Heywood, and Peacock finished in fourth place with a time of 53.88.

The Mules scored 2.5 points and took 15th place in boy’s competition. None of the boys were able to break into the top six finishers in any event.
