Friendship Circle's Spring Tea and Luncheon set for May 15

The Grays River Methodist Church Friendship Circle Spring Tea and Luncheon will be held on May 15 at the Rosburg Community Hall on Hwy 4 in Rosburg. This year’s theme is “Magic in the Kitchen” with comedian and magician Steve Hamilton as the entertainment. The program will be about 20-25 minutes long and will appeal to both adults and children. Children are welcome as always but must be accompanied by an adult. The Tea is a nice mother-daughter activity. A display comprised of unusual kitchen antiquities, aprons and memorable cookbooks will provide topics of conversation. To complement the theme the Appelo Archives Center will sell Donna Gatens-Klint’s book, “The Magic in the Backwoods Kitchen.” It is filled with recipes, photos and stories from Naselle through Grays River in the Willapa Hills of southwest Washington. Each recipe contributor is named. 4-H youths will be servers.

There will be the usual Pick Your Own Prize raffle with tickets being just $1.00 and a silent auction. Proceeds from the Silent Auction will be donated to the West End Food Bank.

The High Tea menu includes scones, fresh fruit, sandwiches and savories, veggies and dip, tea and punch, and a special dessert plate. Gluten-free items are available by reservation only—call 360-484-7749 before May 10.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with lunch promptly at 12:30 p.m. The raffle will be held all throughout the luncheon rather than just at the end of the event. The Silent Auction will continue throughout the afternoon. Suggested donation at the door is $8.00 per person. Children under age 12 are $5.00. For more information call 360-465-2740 or 360-484-7749.
