Mule baseball team sweeps Onalaska

The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team won two more in Onalaska on Saturday, bringing their overall record to 9-1 and their league record to 7-1.

The Mules won the first game 9-2. Pitcher Terris Record got the win, pitching six innings and striking out 10. Luke Brown pitched the final inning.

Record, L. Brown and Hank Ferguson had two RBI each. Joey Moore, Zach Brown and Casey Wilson brought in one run apiece.

The Mules won the second game 13-5. Zach Brown pitched all seven innings and got the win.

Ferguson hit a double. Wilson and L. Brown drove in three runs each. Z. Brown had two RBI. Moore and Colton Mace had one RBI apiece.

“We swung the sticks very well today and executed very well offensively,” Coach Marc Niemeyer said on Saturday. “Defensively we had too many errors that better teams will take advantage of.”

One of those teams is Napavine, according to Niemeyer. The Mules faced them on Wednesday but the score was not available by press time.

The Mules continue play in Pe Ell on Monday.
