Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
March 28 — 8:06 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor’s dog that was always loose. A deputy spoke with the neighbor about fencing. The neighbor said the dog was a rescue and that he would return him if he was a problem. 12:37 p.m. A caller reported speeders on a Skamokawa road and asked deputies to patrol more frequently. 4:11 p.m. A Rosedale resident requested assistance after a family member allegedly threatened suicide and barricaded herself in her room. A representative from the mental health department responded and determined that the individual would not harm herself. 6:41 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with a lift after she had fallen. 6:55 p.m. A caller complained that an individual had blocked her Elochoman Valley driveway with a vehicle. 11:13 p.m. A caller reported that an illegal fire was getting out of hand. The Puget Island Fire Department responded and discovered that the fire was in an approved pit.
March 29 — 6:53 a.m. A caller reported that someone was burning plastic during the night in the Beaver Creek area. 9:04 a.m. A deputy spoke with an investigator from Adult Protective Services. 10:53 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. The owner reset the alarm. 1:08 p.m. A caller reported two motorcyclists speeding on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 1:41 p.m. A caller reported a sexual assault that happened last summer. 3:57 p.m. A caller reported that a neighbor was burning trash. 5:01 p.m. A caller was concerned about an individual walking along SR 4 in the Rosedale area.
March 30 — 9:29 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a second dead sheep on a neighbor’s property. A deputy contacted the property owner who said that all the dead sheep had already been removed. The deputy checked on all the remaining animals. 1:46 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle had struck another vehicle in a Cathlamet parking lot. 4:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a young child had shown up at her home, lost. The child was taken into protective custody and then returned to his grandparents’ home. 7:32 p.m. A caller reported that a sewer alarm had been going off for four days in the Skamokawa area.
March 31 — 9:20 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle with a trailer had passed a school bus in an unsafe area along SR 4 near Little Cape Horn. 1:37 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had struck a telephone exchange box in front of a Cathlamet business. 2:06 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 near County Line Park. 3:28 p.m. A caller reported that a barn in Deep River had been vandalized. 4:30 p.m. A caller reported a speeding driver on SR 4 near County Line Park. 5:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had breathing problems. 6:01 p.m. A caller reported ATVs being driven at excessive speeds on a Puget Island road. 8:36 p.m. A motorist reported malfunctioning lights on a boat being towed by a truck.
April 1 — 12:09 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident. 7:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident. 2:00 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported an unknown dog on his property. 6:33 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when an alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. 6:47 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a theft. 7:19 p.m. A caller reported two men in a speeding vehicle on a Puget Island road. The caller, who had been outside with her children, motioned for them to slow down. The driver made an obscene gesture and drove even faster. 8:40 p.m. After finding that her door knobs had been changed, a Rosedale resident reported that she had quarreled with family members whom she had allowed to live in her shed. They had not been paying rent and left to stay with friends on Puget Island.
April 2 — 8:30 a.m. A caller reported that a parked vehicle was blocking traffic and a fire hydrant on a Cathlamet street. The vehicle was towed. 9:10 a.m. A caller complained that his parked vehicle had been blocked by another vehicle in the parking lot of the Cathlamet marina. 1:29 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 1:50 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Rosburg resident. 5:28 p.m. A caller reported a water leak at a building owned by the Town of Cathlamet. A town employee was contacted. 9:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that someone had tried to kick in the front door of her home during the day. 9:25 p.m. An alert requested deputies to be on the lookout for an individual involved in a domestic violence assault. He was believed to be in a vehicle with a woman he had assaulted and two children.
April 3 — 12:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had chest pain. 2:03 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Cathlamet address. 3:50 p.m. A caller reported that he had lost his keys on Puget Island. 4:32 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained that an unwanted individual was on her property. The individual had allegedly attempted to break the door down the day before. 4:40 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.
