Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
On Saturday, children tried to wait patiently for the clock to strike 11 a.m. to begin the Lions Club Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Vista Park, but it was hard. One mom had her two sons attached to leashes and they liked to test their boundaries. Other little ones took off on unsteady legs, headed straight for the nearest painted egg, only to be thwarted by a parent swooping in and pulling them up in their arms. Buckets went flying. And then it was 11 a.m. and they were off, swarming the grass and tennis court in search of treasure. Across the way, the older kids and their parents were enjoying the sunny, comfortable morning, searching a much larger field for treasure. Below: The joy of finding an Easter egg was still a new feeling to this young man. He took his time easing down to pick up the pastel prize, undistracted, eyes shining, while mom waited patiently nearby. Photos by Diana Zimmerman.
