NHS students present fun retelling of Macbeth

William Shakespeare's Macbeth got a fun retelling in the Naselle High School Drama Club's performance of Macbeth: Off-Kilter last weekend.

Set in a high school, athlete Scotty Macbeth wants more, but Duncan Morro is in his way. Macbeth's girlfriend, Sadie Macnutt goes along with Macbeth's plan to set up Morro by putting knives in his locker. Macbeth rises as reputations are ruined but he can't stop wearing plaid and his girlfriend is consumed by a need to clean. It all works out, but not without a few unexpected twists and turns.

"If you can't tell," Director Karl Johnson said, "we have some students who don't mind being hams."

That included some of the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who were cast in the play because of a low turnout at the high school.

The cast included Cameron Burch, Joshua Chadwick, Peyton Dalton, Jazmyne Fisher, Hollie Haataia, Grace Hunt, Cody Kirkman, Corey Smith, Riley Thorsen, Zachary Thorsen, Selah Wulf, Zanith Wulf and Emma Zimmerman.

A para-educator, Deborah Disch played Teacher 1 and Superintendent Lisa Nelson played Teacher 2.
