Sheriff's Report, March 24, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 14 - 8:11 a.m. A theft was reported at a Cathlamet business. 8:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having complications due to diabetes. 12:06 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on an Elochoman Valley road. A deputy investigated and found a pass from the Department of Natural Resources on the dashboard. 2:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an alarm at a Rosedale home where a resident had fallen. 5:20 p.m. An unknown vehicle was parked at an Elochoman Valley business. 5:34 p.m. A sewer alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. The owner could not be located. A neighbor said the alarm went off frequently and that he would let the owner know. 5:37 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had low water pressure. The PUD was notified.

March 15 - 4:47 a.m. A Deep River resident reported a power outage. The PUD investigated, it turned out to be the homeowner's breaker box. 9:11 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that an injured sheep was dying in a pasture next to his home and his neighbor wasn't doing anything about it. A deputy dispatched the animal. 3:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a woman who had fallen in a Cathlamet parking lot. 3:15 p.m. A driver was reported for driving through a cross walk after a crossing guard had stopped traffic to allow students to cross the street near the grade school. 3:34 p.m. A bus driver requested assistance when she realized she had to back up Risk Road because a mobile home trailer had gotten stuck there. Deputies shut down the road temporarily while the driver got turned around. 11:04 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle heading east on SR 4 just west of County Line Park.

March 16 - 10:24 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle crossing the center line on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 1:11 p.m. A Skamokawa business reported the theft of a television, a satellite receiver and a mount. 1:46 p.m. A caller reported a juvenile smoking in a Cathlamet park. 4:47 p.m. A caller reported drug activity that involved a juvenile. Child Protective Services and a principal at a Cathlamet school were notified. 5:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with chest pain.

March 17 - 2:27 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident was frightened after a man came to the door asking for money. The man left in a vehicle and was later seen near Longview where he was stopped by Cowlitz law enforcement. 6:02 a.m. A caller reported that there would be blasting at the Brookfield Hancock pit at 11 a.m. 1:02 p.m. A caller reported that a cow was loose on Main Street in Cathlamet.

March 18 - 6:54 a.m. Deputies responded to the report of a car in a ditch near Cathlamet. There were no injuries reported. 9:24 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that an individual had blocked her driveway and harassed her. 6:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was diabetic and had taken the wrong insulin. 6:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident.

March 19 - 2:05 a.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Cathlamet home. An individual was taken into custody and a domestic violence advocate was contacted. 7:36 p.m. An individual came to the sheriff's office to report that he had been beaten by a large group at a Skamokawa restaurant between midnight and 1 a.m. He asked to have the tapes at the restaurant reviewed. A deputy requested aid. The Cathlamet ambulance responded but the individual refused any help. 1:38 p.m. A caller reported that a dog was loose in the Cathlamet area. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported two women hitchhiking on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. A deputy responded and advised the two.

March 20 - 8:31 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident who was found outside on the ground. 8:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid the Rosedale resident who had been found outside on the ground. They could not determine how long she had been there. 9:20 a.m. A caller reported speeders on a Puget Island road. 5:22 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that his neighbors had been throwing rocks from their driveway into his yard.

March 21 - 1:31 a.m. A grain ship in the Columbia River struck something and was taking on water. It ran aground at river mile marker 35.5. The Coast Guard was contacted and an assist tug was en route. 2:08 a.m. A caller reported a live deer in the middle of the Puget Island bridge. 10:32 a.m. A caller reported a cow in a Puget Island road. The owner was contacted. 11:50 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that his gas cap had been damaged. A deputy responded and found no evidence of damage. 2:40 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on a Puget Island road. 5:18 p.m. A Rosedale resident was concerned that a juvenile may have run away.
