Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Wahkiakum High School Principal Stephanie Leitz encouraged 11 year old Liam Jaussi to help her lead WHS in a cheer at Friday's assembly to kick off Doernbecher Week at the high school. Jaussi first visited the school in 2014 to talk about the care he received at Doernbecher when at the age of five, a tumor the size of a fist was discovered in his brain. This week's activities, which included a Mr. Wahkiakum pageant, a spaghetti feed and an auction, will end this weekend with a movie tailgate and a dance on Friday, as well as a Mother-Daughter Tea at the Columbia River Ranch on Sunday. It's all part of Doernbecher's Kids Making Miracles Program which encourages high school students to conduct fund raising activities each year. Photo by Diana Zimmerman.
