Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
February 29 — 10:27 a.m. A caller reported that an individual who was angry and driving while intoxicated had shown up at his home. The individual yelled at him and drove away. 11:08 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that 100 gallons of fuel had been stolen. 12:56 p.m. A two year old Rosedale resident was reported missing. He was found in a vacant home nearby. 1:49 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that his contractors were frightened by a woman walking with a stroller on SR 4. A deputy made contact with the woman who was walking cross country to Naselle after losing her husband. She informed the deputy that she did not need assistance. 3:10 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a case of fraud. 6:06 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that an aggressive dog had approached her when she took her garbage out. The owner was contacted and advised. 8:32 p.m. A caller reported a large tree limb in the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Cape Horn. 9:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was short of breath and having chest pain.
March 1 — 8:06 a.m. A caller reported that a sewer alarm had been activated in Skamokawa. 1:10 p.m. A tree was down on a Puget Island road. The county road crew was notified. 4:37 p.m. A caller complained about a truck blocking a lane of a Cathlamet street.
March 2 — 4:15 p.m. A caller reported a possible assault in Cathlamet. 4:34 p.m. A caller complained that checks she had mailed had not arrived at their destination and now her accounts were past due. She was concerned that someone had stolen them from her mailbox. A deputy advised the caller. 6:52 p.m. A two vehicle accident was reported on Puget Island. No injuries were reported. 7:11 p.m. An individual arrived at the sheriff’s office and reported that she had given her taxes to a man who had knocked on her door the day before. Her son came to pick her up. The mental health department was notified. 8:36 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified. 8:42 p.m. A caller reported hearing a cow in distress in the Cathlamet area. A deputy investigated but could not locate the animal. 9:55 p.m. A caller reported a landslide and a tree down on a Rosburg road.
March 3 — 6:42 a.m. A calf was found on an Elochoman Valley road. 3:25 p.m. A caller reported that a pitbull was loose at the marina in Cathlamet. 8:31 p.m. A caller reported that a horse was loose on an Elochoman Valley road. They could not catch it.
March 4 — 3:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet home. 5:18 a.m. A caller reported a dead deer on a Cathlamet road. 4:01 p.m. A parked car was blocking a fire hydrant in downtown Cathlamet. 5:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who had had a reaction to a medication to the hospital. 10:45 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading west on SR 4 was all over road. The driver was pulled over and cited for not having insurance.
March 5 — 4:02 a.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a one vehicle accident on SR 4 at Little Cape Horn. There were three in the vehicle and injuries were reported. 9:47 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading west on SR 4 was being driven by an unlicensed driver. 11:38 a.m. An erratic driver was seen heading west on SR 4 near Skamokawa. 1:36 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a burglary. 2:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had back pain. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded for a lift assist.
March 6 — 8:27 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa home. 12:37 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a structure fire in Skamokawa. A fire investigator was requested and the Red Cross was notified.
