Post Sydney Hansen was key inside, shooting 4-7 and contributing eight points to the Lady Mules' 65-55 win against Ilwaco on Friday.
Freshman Ellie Leitz scored six points against Ilwaco; two were from the free throw line.

The Lady Mules finished district in fourth place after a win and two losses last week. This weekend the team travels to Mt. Vernon to face Friday Harbor in regional play. The winner of that game will go on to the State 2B Tournament in Spokane, which takes place March 3-5.
Last Wednesday the Lady Mules struggled offensively and lost to Napavine 31-45 in a semifinal game. This was the third time they had faced the Tigers and lost this season. Napavine lost to Toutle Lake 48-46 in the district championship game.
Peyton Souvenir led the Mule team with 16 points and nine rebounds. Savannah Burdick scored six points. Maddy Mace added five points and five steals. Macie Elliott scored four points and pulled down seven rebounds. Grace Peacock had eight rebounds and one block. Ellie Leitz had five rebounds and one block.

On Friday, the Lady Mules traveled to Rochester and beat Ilwaco 65-55. The Lady Fishermen were up by two at the half, but Wahkiakum outscored Ilwaco by nine points during the third quarter and were able to maintain the lead for the rest of the game.
Souvenir scored 24 points to lead the team. M. Elliott added 10 points. Mace had nine points; Sydney Hansen scored eight. Burdick and Leitz had six points each. Rory Heywood scored two points.

The Mules headed north again on Saturday to play Adna for third and fourth places and lost 32-55.
The late game on Friday may have been a contributing factor to the loss, but Adna defense kept a key Wahkiakum player quiet as well.
The Pirates held Souvenir to just five points, three of which were from the free throw line. The point guard was only able to get off four shots in four quarters, despite averaging 18 points per game.
Souvenir still managed to pull down eight rebounds and had three assists and one block. M. Elliott had 11 points and five rebounds. Mace scored 10 points as well. Burdick, Hansen and Charlie Ashe added two points apiece. Leitz had six rebounds and Peacock had five.

The Lady Mules play Friday Harbor at Mt. Vernon HS at 4 p.m. on Saturday with a berth in the state tournament at stake.
