Sheriff's Report, February 25, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February February 15 — 2:08 p.m. An alarm was activated at a structure on KM. 2:53 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in front of a Cathlamet business. 7:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having chest pain. 10:24 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver near Nassa Point.

February 16 — 7:43 a.m. License plates were found on a Puget Island road. 8:43 a.m. A Rosburg resident complained about two large unknown dogs on her property. 12:18 p.m. A construction company hit a water line in the Rosburg area. The PUD was contacted. 2:12 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a stolen vehicle. 5:30 p.m. An individual was taken into custody during a vehicle stop.

February 17 — 9:08 a.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle had been driving back and forth in the Deep River area for several hours during the evening and into the early morning. 1:17 p.m. A caller was concerned about a horse that was in the mud and lacking shelter on Puget Island. A deputy investigated and found that the horse had access to a barn as well as food and water. 4:35 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was shouting and walking back and forth on a Cathlamet road. 5:17 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of an unattended burn in the Cathlamet area. 7:54 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had struck a guard rail on Puget Island. The driver kept going. 9:56 p.m. A prowler was reported at a Skamokawa residence.

February 18 — 10:21 a.m. A man was seen sleeping on a Cathlamet sidewalk. A deputy investigated but the man was gone. 11:47 a.m. A caller reported that a truck hauling garbage did not have a secure load. 3:04 p.m. A caller reported that two juveniles had been fighting at a Cathlamet school during lunch. 5:32 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of an out of control burn at a Cathlamet address.

February 19 — 10:38 a.m. A Grays River resident reported a phone scam when someone claiming to be a family member said he was in jail and needed money. There was a second call and when they told the caller that he had the wrong number, he became angry and hung up. 3:56 p.m. A Grays River resident requested a deputy for a civil stand by. 9:12 p.m. The mental health department was notified when a caller reported an individual acting strangely in Cathlamet. 9:19 p.m. Campers at a Skamokawa park reported a fight. State patrol responded.

February 20 — 11:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who was experiencing back pain after a fall. 11:51 a.m. An unknown individual was seen rifling through a trailer parked in Cathlamet. The trailer belonged to a contractor. 4:20 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop. 4:57 p.m. A call came in about harassment in the Coal Creek area. The caller was notified that it was not Wahkiakum jurisdiction. 6:21 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle with its flashers on partially parked in the roadway of SR 4 in the Rosburg area. 11:48 p.m. A caller reported boulders on SR 4 near County Line Park.

February 21 — 1:51 p.m. A bull was loose on a Puget Island road. The owners were contacted and en route. 2:12 p.m. A caller reported finding a dog in the Elochoman Valley. The caller was trying to locate the owner. 8:16 p.m. Drug activity was reported at the marina in Cathlamet. 10:47 p.m. A caller reported that an individual wielding an axe had flattened some tires and struck two people in the Deep River area.
