3 C's Chowdown set for January 17

I hope everyone stayed safe with this last burst of cold weather. I know the roads were pretty slick and a few trees made travel a little treacherous. Here’s hoping for a little reprieve with some sunshine.

Welcome home to my Uncle David Hammonds. He spent the holidays in Juneau, Alaska with his daughter and son-in-law, as well as spending time with some of his old friends and with his new great grandson.

With the cold and miserable weather setting in, our local food pantries can use an extra boost of donations. Don’t forget the Free Friday Night Movie in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. Now that the holiday rush is over we hope to get back on track with our regular Friday night fare. This week’s show is a classic musical from 1936. If you like the oldies, don’t miss this one. Concessions are also available before the movie and at intermission.

Do you like to listen to music that is composed and sung from the heart? Here’s your chance to experience real life through the songs written and sung by this local couple. Jerry and Becky Ledtke’s new CD, “It’s My Country” has arrived and is available for purchase locally at The Video Store, Cathlamet Market, and Skamokawa Resort. Mine is on its way, and a copy will also be available in the Grays River Valley Library for your listening pleasure.

The Rosburg Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week in the Rosburg Hall for a delicious home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteers. Lunch is served at noon.

On Thursday, a senior meal is also served in the same location and is sponsored by CAP.

Happy Anniversary to Evert and Dorothy Smith and Bill and Teresa Wood. Here’s to many more celebrations together.

Another devastating house fire on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. Phil and Donna Moody’s home burned to the ground last week. Fortunately no one was at home to be injured. Keep these folks in your prayers, as they are also experiencing some health issues unrelated to the fire. My heart goes out to anyone who is affected by a house fire. I’m not sure if they need anything at the moment, but I will try and keep everyone posted.

On another sad note, my deepest sympathies go out to the Alan Gregory family, as his dad passed away on Monday in Tacoma. Peace be with him and his family in this sad time.
