Sheriff's Report, December 31, 2015

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 21 — 12:10 p.m. Power was out at a home near County Line Park. 12:23 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a woman had called and threatened to kill an employee and burn down their house after they rejected her application to adopt a dog. 12:47 p.m. There was evidence of an attempted break in at storage units in the Cathlamet area. 12:59 p.m. A deputy, the District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two vehicle accident in the Rosedale area. 1:31 p.m. A tree and other debris were blocking both lanes of SR 4 near Nassa Point. The highway was reopened a half hour later. 1:31 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. A deputy did a walk through with the owner. 1:38 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report that the roof had blown off the Puget Island Fire Hall. 3:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had lost consciousness. 3:34 p.m. Residents removed a downed tree from SR 4 in the Skamokawa area.

December 22 — 4:26 a.m. A caller reported black ice on Beaver Creek Road. 9:53 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that the landlord had shut off power and water to his home. The caller was advised that it was a civil issue. 7:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who may have had a stroke. LifeFlight responded. 8:32 p.m. A warrant was served on a Puget Island resident. He was required to surrender weapons.

December 23 — 10:23 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that the neighbor’s cows had gotten out again. 10:46 a.m. Several roads on the Westend were closed due to high water. 11:53 a.m. A caller reported a car in a ditch in the Skamokawa area. There were no injuries. A tow truck was called. 12:36 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle traveling westbound on SR4 at 100 mph. State patrol responded. 1:24 p.m. A deputy was asked to check out a vehicle at a Cathlamet residence in regard to a hit and run accident in Cowlitz County. The deputy determined that there was no recent damage to the vehicle. 3:08 p.m. A caller reported hunters shooting from a Rosburg road. 6:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a man who had fallen and broken his arm. 6:33 p.m. A Grays River resident reported receiving threats in a civil matter. 6:43 p.m. A caller reported that shots were being fired on Puget Island. 8:05 p.m. After passing an erratic driver on SR 4, a caller saw the driver again at a Rosedale business and complained that he smelled of crack. A deputy responded and conducted a field sobriety test with the subject. The individual complained that the deputy was a jerk to him and threatened to assault the deputy in the future.

December 24 — 3:33 a.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle was stopping at mailboxes in the Elochoman Valley area. 9:20 a.m. A deputy, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a rollover accident on SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:17 p.m. A Cowlitz County resident reported that the father of her children, who lived in Cathlamet, had not brought them home. A deputy confirmed that it was a civil violation of the family’s parenting plan and gave the mother advice on how to handle the matter. 8:08 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 near Nassa Point.

December 25 — 11:12 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that the mother of his child would not let him see his son, though they had a verbal agreement. When a deputy later called the man, the child was with him. The deputy advised him that it was a civil matter. 12:06 p.m. A father came to a Rosedale home to pick up his daughter. The caller reported that the individual was angry and violent. Child Protective Services was contacted.

December 26 — 12:51 p.m. An east end resident reported that a firearm had been stolen. 3:23 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a former tenant was trying to intimidate her regarding a deposit. A deputy made contact with the former tenant and informed her that she would have to handle the matter in a civil court and if she continued to harass the landlord by coming to her home or otherwise, she would be subject to arrest. 3:55 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired in the Elochoman Valley. 6:32 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Cathlamet address. It was a false alarm and a technician was en route to service the system. 7:26 p.m. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet home.

December 27 — 3:15 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that an intoxicated individual had left the home and struck a vehicle in the driveway before driving away. A deputy responded and spoke with all parties involved. 11:28 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 6:43 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a missing dog. 11:12 p.m. The Skamokawa ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident.
