The Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team finally faced some competition last week and split games with one win and one loss.
In last Wednesday's game against the Morton/White Pass Timberwolves, the Mules had a slim lead at half-time. Coach Robbie Garrett must have said the right thing in the locker room at half-time because the Lady Mules came out and outscored the Timberwolves by 17 in the second half. The Lady Mules won 63-40.
Peyton Souvenir led scoring with 25 points. She also had five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Savannah Burdick added 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Macie Elliott scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and one block. Maddy Mace had five points, four rebounds, and two steals. Grace Peacock had two points, four rebounds, one steal, and one block. Tyra Elliott had four rebounds and Sydney Hansen had two.
The Mules shot 40 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the free throw line.
