Sheriff's Report, December 22, 2015

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 14 — 12:58 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale home. A deputy checked the home and found nothing. 1:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 2:49 p.m. A caller who had been running on Puget Island said that two dogs had become aggressive when she passed their home. 5:28 p.m. There was a report of a dead deer on SR 4 near the school access road. WSDOT was notified. 11:03 p.m. A driver was taken into custody after a vehicle stop for driving at high speeds and without a license.

December 15 — 9:33 a.m. A Wahkiakum clinic patient who had low oxygen saturation levels was transported by Cathlamet ambulance to the hospital. 12:00 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance after getting locked out of their vehicle. 5:12 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a fire alarm was activated in Cathlamet. Someone had been cooking and set off the alarm.

December 16 — 8:55 a.m. An individual from a Cathlamet school reported that a student had been receiving death threats on Instagram. A deputy responded and spoke with the individual, the student’s mother, and the student. An investigation is ongoing. 11:34 a.m. A dead bull was found in a ditch on SR 4 in the Grays River area. A man was seen standing over the bull elk with a knife in his hand. The caller said that he told the man it wasn’t a good idea and the man left. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 1:50 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. 1:51 p.m. An inmate at Wahkiakum County Jail attempted an escape. 2:40 p.m. Cows were loose on a Puget Island road. The caller was concerned that they were not being fed. 3:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an unconscious Puget Island resident. 5:01 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a threatening phone call from someone claiming she had damaged his vehicle. 6:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having seizures. The resident signed a refusal for transport. 7:27 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported receiving a second threatening phone call from someone claiming she had damaged his vehicle. 8:42 p.m. A Skamokawa resident received a phone call from someone claiming that he had damaged his vehicle in Longview earlier that day. The resident figured it was a scam because he had not been in Longview. 9:17 p.m. A garage door had been found open at a Puget Island home two months earlier and residents discovered items were missing today.

December 17 — 12:30 a.m. An alarm was activated at an address in the Elochoman Valley. 8:49 a.m. A parent reported a missing child, who was later found at school. 3:40 p.m. A caller reported finding a chainsaw in the middle of a Skamokawa road. 4:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley child who had fallen down some steps. 5:03 p.m. A rock slide was blocking one lane of a Rosburg road.

December 18 — 2:40 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence. 12:20 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a male subject would not let her leave the premises. 2:05 p.m. A caller reported an eastbound vehicle on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing several motorists. 2:29 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained about email spam. 4:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 6:29 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a chimney fire in Cathlamet. 7:55 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Rosedale resident overdosed.

December 19 — 5:39 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a power outage at a Grays River address. The PUD was notified.

December 20 — 10:15 a.m. A caller reported a dog running loose on Puget Island. 12:05 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 near the school access road. 12:26 p.m. An individual was taken into custody when a theft was reported in the Elochoman Valley. 1:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a disoriented Cathlamet man. 2:53 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. 3:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a fire alarm in Cathlamet. It was a false alarm. 5:04 p.m. An individual who came in to visit an inmate at the county jail had a warrant and was taken into custody. 5:25 p.m. A motorist complained about a vehicle parked on the side of SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley because it was partially blocking the road. A deputy set flares, and it was reported to state patrol. 6:47 p.m. A deputy and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident on SR 4 near Nassa Point.

December 21 — 12:55 a.m. A Rosedale resident said she was being harassed with an eviction notice. 8:36 a.m. A Rosedale resident complained that landlords were handling her property. A deputy advised landlords as to what they could and could not do. 8:46 a.m. A tree was partially blocking SR 4 near Nassa Point. A windshield was broken when a vehicle struck the tree. 8:49 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a woman sleeping in a vehicle in the Elcohoman Valley.
