On December 3, community members and businesses drank their favorite coffee or latte purchased from participating locations of “Wake Up for United Way,” a fundraising event put on by United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties.
The goal of this event was to partner with community coffee shops to enhance awareness and contributions of the 2016 United Way campaign which directly supports its 22 partner agencies.
Businesses who contributed a portion of their sales from opening time until noon were: ZoJo Coffee (two Longview locations), Red Leaf Coffee (Kelso and Woodland locations), Dutch Bros. (Longview and Kelso locations), Waterway Espresso (Cathlamet), Kalama Koffee (Kalama) and The Electric Bean (Longview). This event raised $2,000 toward the 2016 campaign.
“We thank all the community members and businesses who supported this event,” said Executive Director Dave Green.
“We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and contribution to increasing the quality of life and place for our community and its members through the programs of our 22 partner agencies,” added Director of Community Resources, Brooke Fisher-Clark.
The United Way will hold a similar event, “Dine Out for United Way,” in February.
