Paul Stewart

Beloved family man and mentor Paul Stewart. 72, of Topock, Ariz., died Dec. 9, 2015, in Bullhead City, Ariz.

He was born Dec. 13, 1942, in Shawnee, Okla., and lived in Southwest Washington most of his life, 23 years in Skamokawa.

Paul earned an associate arts degree from Clark College in industrial psychology and worked for Reynolds Metal Corp., for 33 years, retiring as a general supervisor. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Golden Shores, Ariz., and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Paul had an amazingly quick and funny wit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, raising cattle and playing pool at the VFW, but most of all, attending his grandchildren's activities. His most cherished role in life was being grandpa to 10 grandchildren.

He married Jae McPherson in Skamokawa May 14, 1994. She survives him at home. Also surviving are a sister, LaNelle Lee of Vancouver; three stepsons, Shawn Spain of Vancouver, Tris Spain of Battle Ground, Wash., and W.B. Spain Jr. (Rene) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandsons, Tony Nelson, Ikaika Spain, Tyson Spain, Kyle Spain, William Spain, Maxwell and Mitchell Spain; and three granddaughters, Leilani Spain, Kristina "Sissy" Spain and Summer Spain; and two great-grandchildren, Arianna Schaupp and his namesake, Milo David Paul Spain.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, John Stewart; and his mother, Pauline (Kirby) Stewart Rodgers.

A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Skamokawa United Methodist Church with Beryl Curtis officiating.
