Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Seal River Cemetery Association will hold a business meeting Saturday, December 5 at 10 a.m. at the Grays River Fire Hall. Anyone who is interested in the operation of the cemetery is welcome to attend.
The cemetery was formed in May of 1889 on land that was donated by Jakob Antti and Briita (Kynsijärvi) Anet who were both buried in the cemetery. Additional land was purchased in 1935 from Pete Tervo. Lars Impio and Abram Mustaniemi cleared the land of the timber. Mustaniemi was one of the first to be buried there after he accidentally shot himself while hunting.
On the agenda are grounds maintenance, as well as the different aspect of cremains placement, annual meeting and spring clean up days for 2016. For more information call Gene Strong, Mary Vik or Kari Kandoll.
