Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
November 10 — 5:56 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a baby with breathing issues in the Elochoman Valley. 10:34 a.m. A caller reported that she had scratched the bumper of a car on Main Street in Cathlamet. 3:58 p.m. An east county resident reported that items had been stolen from his vehicle on two occasions. 6:57 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a missing man. When the missing man later posted on social media, he was asked to contact law enforcement. 7:46 p.m. A broken hay bale was strewn across SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley. 10:57 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that her daughter had stolen money from her purse.
November 11 — 2:35 a.m. A caller reported that a mile marker had been run over and that there were tracks going over an embankment in the Rosburg area. He was concerned that it may be the individual that had been reported missing the day before. Deputies, the Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded but were unable to locate a vehicle or a person. 2:34 p.m. Cows were found on a Rosburg road. The owner made contact. 4:01 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that someone had attempted to break into his car sometime in the last couple months.
November 12 — 4:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island home where a resident had fallen. 7:20 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of smoke on Puget Island. 9:53 a.m. The alarm on an ATM in Cathlamet was activated. 10:32 a.m. The clinic in Cathlamet requested and then canceled the Cathlamet ambulance for a patient who was having an asthma attack. 5:10 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on the Puget Island bridge. 5:18 p.m. A juvenile stopped by the sheriff’s office asking for assistance. An advocate from the mental health department was en route.
November 13 — 6:38 a.m. A motorist reported that she had gotten two flat tires due to rocks on SR 4. 9:14 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet clinic patient who was having complications from a recent hip surgery, which included pain and a lack of circulation in his leg. 10:04 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that her landlord had threatened to kill her. 11:28 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a vehicle had been stolen. 1:41 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a driver had sped by as she and her grandchildren waited for the school bus. She said it was an ongoing problem. 3:50 p.m. A downed tree was blocking a Rosburg road. 5:41 p.m. Several roads were closed in the Westend due to flooding. 8:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 11:38 p.m. A resident in the Nassa Point area reported hearing three shots fired and then the sound of a vehicle speeding away.
November 14 — 9:16 a.m A caller reported that log truck driver was continually parking in front of a fire hydrant in the Cathlamet area. 9:46 a.m. A boulder had fallen onto SR 4 near Nassa Point. 11:10 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 11:41 a.m. A caller reported that hunters were tracking a bull in a no shoot zone in the Elochoman Valley area. 2:01 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance unlocking a motorhome. 5:44 p.m. A deputy conducted a welfare check on an Elochoman Valley resident. 10:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet woman. 5:17 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident wanted two individuals arrested for hunting on his property. One of the individuals claimed he had used an easement to access forestry land. The resident admitted there was an easement but said that it was for hauling logs not hunting. A deputy explained that it was a civil matter and then asked the two individuals to leave and warned that if they returned they would be arrested for trespassing.
