Westend news:

Another successful “Living Well in Wahkiakum” event took place last week with lots of vendors and agencies on hand to help out those folks who had questions about all the programs available in our wonderful community, including medicare, insurance, etc. Thank you Carol Glowaki, Health and Human Services community outreach coordinator, for all your hard work and that of the vendors, helpers and especially those folks who took the time to come up to the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park to check it out. See you next year.

The Grays River Valley Library/Community Computer Center is open Monday through Saturday 1-5 p.m. with lots of new reading material for your pleasure. Our “Tea and Sympathy” program will continue through the month of November. Come in and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a sweet to go with it, browse the many shelves of paperbacks to take or trade, and the 10,000 books, audiobooks, music CDs, movies, local authors, reference books and children’s section.

Our warm comfy sofa and chairs are perfect for relaxing with a good book, and we also have seven computers to use with little or no waiting. You can bring in your own computer and utilize our wi-fi, print copies or paperwork off our computers connected to our printers (10 cents a copy for black and white or 25 cents for color per page).

The sewing center is open on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week, if you need help with sewing or just need a place to cut out your patterns, or maybe do a little quilting layout or sewing. For more information on the sewing please call Cindy Lahti.

Free Friday Night Movie this week is the story of the long-retired super sleuth of years gone by, nearing the end of his life, our hero grapples with an unreliable memory and must rely on his housekeeper's son as he revisits the still-unsolved case that led to his retirement. Rated PG, a mystery.

Concessions are also available with popcorn (a free refill at intermission), pop and candy.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets at the Rosburg Hall each week for a nice lunch and good company. Pat Potter and her volunteer crew prepare and served the meal at noon.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also served and is sponsored by CAP, also at the Rosburg Hall.
