Transportation plan, budget hearings set

Wahkiakum County commissioners set up hearings for budgets and transportation plans in an abbreviated, recessed meeting Tuesday.

Commissioners set their annual public hearing on the 2016 budgets for 9:30 a.m. on December 7. Copies for the budget will be available at the auditor's office November 23.

Commissioners also set public hearings on the Annual Road Construction Program, the Six Year Transportation Plan and the 14 Year Ferry Program. Those hearings will be held in the morning of the board's December 1 meeting.

Projects listed on the 2016 Road Construction Program include Clear Creek Fish Passage, Elochoman Valley Road Realignment at Clear Creek, Columbia Street Overlay, Upper Elochoman Valley Road Culvert replacement, Elochoman Valley Road 2R, Steamboat Slough Road Safety Access Preservation, Oneida Road Culvert replacement, county rural safety improvements, Altoona-Pillar Rock Road culvert replacement, Altoona Borrow Ditch, West Deep River Road repairs, various small construction projects countywide and major culvert replacements countywide.

Commissioners adjourned their meeting; they'll reconvene this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 p.m. On the agenda are 1. a work session on Puget Island Flood Control Zone Districts; 2. a work session on courthouse phone system replacement, and 3. an executive session with legal counsel on litigation or potential litigation.
