The Wahkiakum Mules lost a 41-7 game to the Mossyrock Vikings last Friday.
The 0-8 Mules will close out their 2015 football season tonight (Thursday) against 7-1 Toledo. Mule seniors will be honored before the game.
Mossyrock got on the board first last week with a 31-yard touchdown run. The Mules followed with a score of their own; Joey Moore scored on an 11-yard run and kicked the conversion for a 7-6 Mule lead at the end of the first quarter.
The host Vikings took control of the game with two more touchdowns in the second quarter and a 21-7 lead at halftime. They scored twice in the third quarter and once in the fourth for the final 41-7 score.
The Mule offense generated 222 yards, 193 on the ground and 29 in the air.
"We did well on offense," Coach Eric Hansen said, "until we got in the red zone.
"We have a young team."
Zach Brown gained 93 yards on 12 carries; James Anderson had 69, Moore 23, and Hank Ferguson eight. Ferguson completed four of 11 passes for 29 yards. The Mules fumbled four times and lost three.
On defense Brown had seven tackles and seven assists; Ferguson was 4/9, Dylan Ahmed 3/6, Moore and Anderson each 3/3, Ryan Quigley 3/2, McKenzie Menard 2/3, Alexander Merrill 1/6, Nick Hummer and Evan Quigley each 1/2, Casey Wilson 0/6, Bryce Good 0/4,and Zach Johnston and Charles Barton each 0/1.
