The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team suffered a loss last week, but were able to even things out with a win at home on Tuesday, bringing their record to 3-3 in league and 8-3 overall.
The team battled through five sets in Mossyrock last Thursday, and lost 16-25, 25-12, 25-21, 17-25 and 11-15.
“This was a tough loss for us,” Coach Kayli Hurley said. “The girls fought pretty hard all night. We dug ourselves holes early that were difficult to get out of. Just a bit more efficiency on our side would have gone a long way.”
Standouts for Hurley included Grace Peacock, who had 13 kills, six digs and four aces; Savannah Burdick with 21 digs; Sydney Hansen who had three kills; and Peyton Souvenir, with 40 assists.
At home against Pe Ell on Tuesday, the Mules quickly dispatched the Trojans and won in three sets, 25-9, 25-14, and 25-12.
The evening’s standouts included Kennedi LaBerge, who had nine kills and Peacock and Makenzie Anderson who had five kills each.
“Tyra Elliott and Anderson had spectacular serve receive passing,” Hurley said.
The Mules play Morton/White Pass at home on Thursday, October 22.
