The Onalaska Loggers proved to be too much for the Wahkiakum Mule football team to handle, and the visitors went home with a 59-0 win on the Mules' homecoming last Friday.
The Loggers simply overpowered the younger, smaller Mules. They scored three times in the first quarter and three times in the second to lead 46-0 at halftime. In the third quarter they scored on a 40-yard pass play, and a kicked one-point conversion put them up 53-0. A two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter made the final 59-0 score.
The Mule offense had sporadic moments. Quarterback Hank Ferguson completed four passes for 19 yards and ran for 32 yards on two carries. Zach Brown caught three passes for 18 yards and ran for 18 yards.
Ferguson also led the defense with five tackles and eight assists. Joey Moore and Ryan Quigley were 3/2, Evan Quigley 3/0; James Anderson 2/3; Brown 1/5; Alexander Merrill 1/4; Charles Barton 1/3; and Nick Hummer 1/2.
The Mules are on the road this week and next. They take on the 1-5 Winlock Cardinals this Friday and travel to Mossyrock on October 23.
