The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team won two matches this week, putting last week's losses behind them. Their record stands at 2-2 in league and 7-2 overall.
Last Thursday, the team traveled to Toledo and beat the Indians in three sets, 25-14, 25-6, and 25-15.
"Tonight was a good night for us overall," Coach Kayli Hurley said. "We worked to get back on track as a team and we brought a lot of fire and energy."
Hurley commended Grace Peacock and Macie Elliott for their offensive play. Peacock had eight kills and M. Elliott had five. Both had solo blocks on defense. Savannah Burdick passed 2.38 out of a possible 3.00 average, and Tyra Elliot passed 2.75 on serve receive.
"Sydney Hansen had a strong match with two kills and good heads up play," Hurley added.
Tuesday night, the Mules deftly handled Adna at home, beating them in three, 25-18, 15-21, and 25-14.
"It was an overall team effort tonight," Hurley said. "We did a great job of taking care of both sides of the ball. Adna has a couple good weapons and we were able to adjust quickly and take control of the ball on our side of the net."
Hurley praised several players including Kennedi LaBerge, who had 10 kills. Peacock and Makenzie Anderson had seven kills apiece and M. Elliott added three more. T. Elliott and Anderson were 100 percent from the service line.
The Lady Mules travel to Mossyrock tonight. They entertain Pe Ell next Tuesday and Morton/White Pass next Thursday.
