Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
October 5 — 7:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fainted. 2:05 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that she had been harassed online. 7:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a phone scam. 7:40 p.m. A man was seen on the roof of a Cathlamet restaurant. 7:45 p.m. A Wahkiakum High School student was taken into custody after someone reported he had threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot people. 9:38 p.m. A vehicle struck an elk on SR 4 in the Deep River area. 10:14 p.m. A caller was concerned after hearing someone yelling what sounded like military commands in Cathlamet.
October 6 — 2:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having respiratory problems. 7:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a seizure. 3:31 p.m. A crack pipe was found in the Rosedale area. 4:04 p.m. Deputies, the Skamokawa Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a vehicle in a ditch in Skamokawa. There were no injuries reported. 4:45 p.m. A Deep River resident asked to talk to a deputy. The resident was frustrated that nothing was being done while an individual repeatedly violated a no contact order. 5:21 p.m. Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident in the Rosedale area.
October 7 — 2:56 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. A message was left for a person responsible for the property. 8:45 a.m. A caller reported seeing an unoccupied boat in the Columbia River near Nassa Point. 11:31 a.m. The Kelso Police Department notified the sheriff’s office that they had received a report of a domestic disturbance in the Rosedale area. 1:42 p.m. An individual was taken into custody on Puget Island after a warrant was served. 3:43 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a one vehicle accident on Puget Island. 7:34 p.m. A Cathlamet parent shared concerns about a rebellious juvenile.
October 8 — 10:12 a.m. A caller wanted to report that he was missing a large box of equipment that may have fallen off a truck in the Elochoman Valley area. 3:23 p.m. A caller reported a hit and run in Cathlamet after a motorist backed into her parked vehicle and drove away. 6:45 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified. 7:53 p.m. The sheriff’s office received three calls about a woman walking in traffic on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 11:09 p.m. A cow was loose and on the road in the Grays River area.
October 9 — 1:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an ailing Cathlamet resident to the hospital. 2:33 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down on SR 4 in front of their home in the Rosedale area. 4:06 p.m. A park in Skamokawa had been vandalized. 7:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the high school in Cathlamet to aid an athlete with neck pain. 9:31 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in Cathlamet. The fire, which the resident said was for hot dogs, was contained. According to one of the responders the fire was not as big as it had appeared from the road. 10:32 p.m. A motorist reported a possible drunk driver heading west on SR 4 in the Elochoman area.
October 10 — 4:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having breathing problems. 4:37 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire. It appeared to be an electrical fire, and the homeowners were able to put it out. A fire investigator was requested and on scene by 7:24 a.m. 11:31 a.m. A resident requested assistance and advice after a former family member started making requests that were not in her parenting plan. 11:43 a.m. A caller reported that she found two hypodermic needles on the side of SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 1:31 p.m. A caller reported that the roadblock signs on the west end of the detour had been taken down. A deputy reported that the signs were down on the east end as well. 1:36 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified. 3:01 p.m. A caller reported finding a door open and no one around at an Elochoman Valley address.
October 11 — 1:22 p.m. An alarm was activated at a school in Cathlamet. 2:01 p.m. A traffic accident was reported on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area. 2:34 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver. 3:02 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a two vehicle accident on SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Cathlamet resident took several sleeping pills. 9:56 p.m. A caller reported a tree limb on a Puget Island road.
October 12 — 3:29 a.m. Grays Harbor County requested assistance from the search and rescue team after a woman who had been picking mushrooms did not return. No one was sent to assist. 4:16 a.m. A caller reported that one of the docks at the marina in Cathlamet was taking on water. A responsible person was called and en route. 8:46 a.m. A concerned neighbor reported that a garage door at a Cathlamet home had been open for two days. A deputy investigated and discovered that the homeowner had hired someone to do work on the property. 11:02 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a possibly suicidal individual in the Naselle area.
