Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
September 28 — 9:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island woman complaining of hip and leg pain. 3:09 p.m. An employee at a Cathlamet business called to follow up after a recent report of illegal dumping on their property. The individual was informed that it was a civil matter. 4:56 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained that an individual had parked a camper and started a construction site on his property. The resident said that he had his property surveyed two days earlier. He was advised that it was a civil matter and he should contact his lawyer. 10:13 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Rosburg home. An individual was taken into custody.
September 29 — 9:05 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor’s cows were loose in the Rosburg area. 2:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 4:05 p.m. A boater complained that another boat had sped past him on a Skamokawa slough and caused a large wake. 4:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet man who was having a seizure. 6:59 p.m. A caller reported that an unoccupied car had been running for two hours in Cathlamet. The owner was contacted and en route. She had left the keys in the car and believed it to be a practical joke.
September 30 — 7:37 a.m. A caller was concerned about a suspicious man who was parked at a Cathlamet park in an old school bus. 10:39 a.m. Deputies and the District 4 Fire Department responded when a fire alarm was activated in Cathlamet. The alarm company called and said they weren’t needed. 10:48 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that an air conditioner had been vandalized. 11:23 a.m. A Puget Island resident refused to report for jail sentence. 6:42 p.m. A caller complained about an oncoming driver who had swerved into his lane and almost hit him on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 9:28 p.m. An individual was asked to leave a Rosedale business after making threats. He was warned that he would be cited for trespassing if he returned.
October 1 — 2:16 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a trailer had been stolen. 8:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had been ill before losing consciousness. 2:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 5:38 p.m. A Rosburg resident complained that her landlord had become increasingly strange and angry and had threatened to remove her possessions from the home. She was advised to get her things out of the home as soon as possible and contact the court for options while the office attempted to locate alternative shelter for her. 6:55 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that an unwanted individual was on his property. 9:09 p.m. A caller reported that she had hit a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. She and the car were fine, but she was not sure about the deer. 9:37 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that an individual was having suicidal thoughts. Attempts were made to contact the mental health department but there was no response. About 40 minutes later, the caller reported that the individual was headed to the hospital.
October 2 — 9:15 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had collapsed. 2:55 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department was notified of a brush fire on Beaver Creek. It turned out to be a controlled burn. 5:08 p.m. A dead deer was found on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 10:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident.
October 3 — 8:55 a.m. The sheriff’s office received the report that an individual was missing from a retirement home. He was believed to be in the area with an old hunting buddy. The office received a call at 1:19 p.m. saying that he had returned to the home. 9:58 a.m. A Rosedale resident requested assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle. 12:27 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor was speeding. 5:16 p.m. A caller reported finding garbage that had been dumped in the Beaver Creek area.
October 4 — 4:38 p.m. A Rosburg resident complained that his neighbor’s pig was on his property again. 5:55 p.m. A caller reported that an individual who appeared to be working on a fence in the Rosburg area had flipped him off when he drove by. When he returned, he said the man made a gesture that suggested he was armed. The caller was advised that this was not criminal behavior but he could request a restraining order. 8:25 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had poisoned a steer. A follow up caller reported someone had shot it with a bow and arrow. A vet will determine the cause of death.
